The Mahoning Township Police Department is a full-service agency headquartered at 2175 Blakeslee Boulevard Drive West, Lehighton, PA. Staffed by five full-time officers under the leadership of Chief Audie Mertz, the department provides patrol coverage, emergency response, and public safety support throughout the township.

To ensure a timely response and proper documentation, residents should never use the business line to report emergencies or request an officer. All service-related calls—emergency and non-emergency—should go through the Carbon County Communications Center.

Volunteer-Driven Response, Community Education & Mutual Aid

Fire protection for Mahoning Township is provided by the Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, chartered in 1951. The company responds to an average of 200 emergency calls per year and maintains a fleet that includes:

Ambulance Services

Certified Emergency Medical Care & Community Shelter Support

Mahoning Township is served by a dedicated volunteer ambulance association headquartered at 902 Mill Road, providing emergency medical services for Mahoning Township since 1973.

The organization began by responding to 48 calls per year and now handles over 1,000 calls annually using three fully equipped ambulances. The association has been state certified since 1989 and also functions as a local emergency shelter when needed.
